THE LAKE

The Lake

The Cross Drove Fishery Lake, for a great angling experience on the Norfolk & Suffolk border

Our large fishing lake, offering a variety of angling experiences for all levels of fishing

At Cross Drove Fishery, our fishing lake is a vast space, broken up by over 20 islands, bridges, mini waterways and variety of reeds, trees and bushes. Although we have one large lake, it offers the diverse range of fishing experience that anglers would expect from a selection of lakes; we break up these experiences into ‘peg sections’. This page exhibits these sections, and offers a preview into what to expect.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 1-7
This group of pegs is on one of the central islands, offering both simple leisure fishing and potential challenges to anglers, should they choose. These pegs have a good choice of swims to access, with wide open lake and easily reachable lily pad features.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 8-11
Pegs 8-11 are also in a spot on one of the central islands, however these pegs offer a slightly different experience to 1-7. There is less access to lily pads on these pegs, but anglers fish into narrower waters, with more overhanging bushes and shaded spots.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 12-18
This peg section offers an interesting and challenging combination of the above two peg sections; depending which specific peg you’re on, you could be presented with narrow waters with access to lily pads and shaded areas, or you could have open water in front of you with lily pad areas in close reach.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 19-23
This section offers shallow water which heats up quickly in the sun, and this can be good for carp fishing. These pegs also offer quite the intimate fishing experience, in that they are positioned on an island relatively close to the opposite bank. With this, also comes access to reed areas.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 24-30
These pegs offer various challenges for anglers; much like how 12-18 seems to combine the features of the previous two peg sections, Pegs 24-30 is a healthy mixture of all before it, giving anglers the options of open water, narrow water fishing, shallow water, lily pad fishing and shaded edges.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 31-35
This section of pegs offer wide, open waters with easy access to lily pads, and nearby reed areas on certain pegs. The water here is also of medium depth, meaning that it lends itself well to winter fishing.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 36-41
Offering a secluded spot on the lake, fishing to an island and with scattered lily pads, this peg section is good for both the leisure angler and those looking for more of a challenge.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 42-46
Good island fishing opportunity with this peg section, offering shaded areas with overhanging bushes.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 47-52
Versatile peg section, offering the opportunity to fish to small islands with shaded overhangs at short distance, lily pads at range where the water is deeper, or to reed growth. Excellent peg set for varied challenges.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 53-58
Another peg set offering varied angling, with shaded overhang, where the water is cool, varied sized lily pad sections in and amongst both narrow water ways and in open water sections where the water becomes deeper. All pegs arranged at the edge of an island with various views.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 59-62
This peg section is at the deepest end of the lake, which offers good fishing towards the end of the day as the water cools down. There is also opportunity to fish to islands, lily pads and narrow water ways here, making this peg set versatile for both day and night fishing.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 63-67
Mainly narrow water way fishing with slightly overhanging trees on opposite bank. When partnered with the deeper water, this offers cool water for fishing. Distant reed areas and hidden spots in overhanging bushes. Peg 67 opens out slightly to wider water with small lily pads at a distance and deep water.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 68
One of the most interesting areas of the lake, Peg 68 stands alone and fishes to shallow water in a secluded spot, with reeds close by on the right, 2 islands to fish to, and a good spot if you need the loo!! It’s right near to the toilets.
Cross Drove Fishery Pegs 69-70
These two pegs offer versatile fishing opportunities, with islands to fish to, lily pads nearby, and margin fishing – good for carp!
